Dear "Opening Doors" Crew:

I just wanted to send a heart-felt "thank you" to everyone who made the "Opening Doors" day at Clark State Community College campus a reality. My Hayward students were very impressed with the level of program offered to them, the presenters each had a wonderfully positive and realistic message for our students, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching students stretch and grow as a result of your program.

During lunch, and then at the end of the day, Hayward students were speaking extremely highly of their experiences! I watched as students learned to juggle with Curtis, talked about success with Sheila and experienced varied communication techniques with Joey. Even on the bus, students shared what happened during each session in positively charged ways.

Thank you also for providing the students with the gift bags of useful items! Hayward students again commented on how much they liked the items given to them (and there was a plan made -initiated by the students-to wear the new Opening Doors shirts on Monday). I am certain that the student and adult surveys will reflect the success of your program, but I wanted to share my elation about seeing middle school students let down their "walls" and build a sense of community.

Wow! I hope that collectively and individually you are proud of what took place today; those in attendance got a precious gift of confidence, a dose of humor, and an open invitation to make their own dreams come true. As an educator, I can't think of anything more powerful than that.

Sincerely, thank you all again,
