Connie Murphy Tribute

Connie Murphy was not one to sit idle and wait for an opportunity to develop. She had big ideas and a tenacious spirit. It was her persistent nature that helped to found the Mercy Central School of Practical Nursing, which eventually moved to Clark State with Connie as its director. She also established the Associate Degree RN program, the Medical Laboratory Technology program, and the Emergency Medical Services program.

Beloved by her colleagues and students, she was honored for her dedication and many accomplishments at the 2006 RN Pinning Ceremony. In a fitting tribute, funds were raised from alumni and retirees and matched by Clark State for the establishment of the Constance Halloran Murphy Classroom to be located in the expanded Health Sciences area of the Sara T. Landess Technology and Learning Center.

Connie passed away of cancer in the summer of 2006 after a courageous battle that once again demonstrated her tenacious nature. Her legacy will remain strong through the students who benefit from the programs she established.
