Clark State Community College broke ground on the new Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center June 16 at the Performing Arts Center (PAC) in downtown Springfield.
"We are delighted to be able to continue our role in the revitalization of downtown Springfield with a beautiful new venue for businesses, arts groups, youth outreach and the residents of this area," said Clark State President Karen Rafinski.
Local and state representatives were on hand for the event, including former State Rep. Merle Kearns, who was responsible for securing the first $500,000 planning grant through the state seven years ago. The entire cost of the building has been secured through a combination of public and private support.
The building will be named to honor the lead donor, Jane B. Hollenbeck. Hollenbeck is well-known throughout the community for her generosity, especially in the arts community.
